San Francisco’s Hidden Gems – Design, Wine, and Architecture

20150816 Jill-SF-Multiple Locations-1002751

San Francisco’s hidden gems are tossed aside in the tourist shuffle since there are so many major iconic sites to cover during a visit to this City. I’m pleased to be collaborating with Interiors by Jacquin, an influential interior design blog, to showcase some of my favorite spots around San Francisco. Having moved to The City just over a year ago, I’m always looking for new, artistic haunts that are off the beaten track:

Positano: What I Wore, What I Ate, & Where I Stayed On The Amalfi Coast

DSC_0477

Positano, Italy is one of my favorite places in Europe. I’ve dreamed of visiting Positano and the Amalfi Coast since the first time I saw it in a photograph. Misty hills dotted with colorful villas and lush foliage frame an emerald blue cove; and of course you can’t miss the iconic silhouette of it’s duomo. With no shortage of visitors, Positano offers amazing food, accommodations, and a spectacle of resort wear worn by visitors from all over the world.

Fall Florals – Don’t Hang Up Your Flower Print Just Yet!

Fall florals are deeper hues, burnt oranges, or patterns that are reminiscent of falling leaves. Just because the weather is cooling down in most of the country (except for California – sorry East Coast friends!), it doesn’t mean you need to hang up floral prints with the weather change. Even bright florals can be fall appropriate when paired with tights and cute booties. This dress is the ultimate example of fall florals with it’s dark background and bright, punchy splashes of color via the flowers. The short sleeves are super cute, and there is also nothing like a skater skirt to make you feel feminine. I paired with with my favorite X-strap sandals that add a touch of class to everything, and some cool aviators for a little twist.

Opinion of a Fit Girl Part Part 3: Group Fitness Apps, Skipped Food Diaries, and Protein Bars

DSC_0295

Opinion of a Fit Girl is a series I started to share my thoughts on all things hot in fitness at the moment, and this week I’m sharing my thoughts on group fitness apps, skipped food diaries, and protein bars.

I’ve been eating clean, working out, and maintaining a fit girl physique since I started hitting the gym in high school, and from years of trial and error, I know how to alter my diet or workouts to meet different goals depending on the time of year or situation. With that in my back pocket, I love to experiment with different classes, meal plans, and approaches. While everyone is different, I hope that sharing my fit girl opinions about what’s hot in fitness will help others figure out what will work best for them. Continue reading

San Francisco Grunge: Rag and Bone Moto Boots + A Slip Dress + A Weather Report

moto-boots-rag-and-bone-san-francisco-summer-slip-dress-blogger

When I arrived in San Francisco last year for the first time, everyone kept telling me it was winter. Even though it was May! The wind was howling, and the sun didn’t come out for two weeks after I arrived. It had just started to warm up in NYC right as I left, and needless to say I was missing the Big Apple. I also noticed that a lot of people seemed to be dressed down…

A year later, I’ve learned that a few months of wind is worth zero months of snow, and that fashion here really is about a) expressing yourself b) being comfortable and c) utility. Tech folks are all about optimization and performance, and they don’t put that aside when it comes to clothing! Continue reading
