How To Wear Winter Booties in Spring: Feat. Cole Haan

Thankfully the great thing about California is that we embrace all things slightly western inspired and one of the staple casual looks here is to wear your winter booties in spring and all year long for that matter. This is how I wear my winter booties in spring – with a floral dress! Even in SoCal or Palm Springs with their blistering summer heat, chances are you’ll be in the air conditioning anyway, right?

Last year, I complained that it didn’t get cold enough to wear my winter booties or sweaters, but this year San Francisco was unseasonably cold and rainy. Though one good thing about the rain we’ve had is how lush and green everything is here right now. The Marin countryside where this was shot is bursting with blooms, and we’ve got to enjoy it while it lasts!

San Francisco’s Best Career Coach – Q&A with Marty Nemko

The media will tell you that Millennials are motivated by personal values and following their passions, rather than by the promise of climbing a corporate ladder.

This topic fascinates me so I jumped at the chance to chat with The San Francisco Bay Area’s best career coach, Marty Nemko about  the myth of following your passion, and the difficulty of changing people. I think you’ll find this interview insightful and enjoy it as much as I did.

Nob Hill Spa – San Francisco’s Best Spa – A Posh Oasis In A Historic Neighborhood

Nob_Hill_Spa_San_Franciscos_Best_Spa_Review_Scarlet_Huntingdon

Inside the Nob Hill Spa, by the pool

How convenient is it that one of San Francisco’s best spas is right in my neighborhood? As a resident of Nob Hill, I am biased to the charms of Nob Hill. With it’s old buildings, grand hotels, and cliff-like hills it’s as quintessential San Francisco as you can get. The Nob Hill Spa is located in the Scarlet Huntingdon Hotel, right in the heart of the neighborhood. From the outside, the brick building looks historical and demure. You’d never guess that just inside the door is a spa oasis, with a huge pool, floor to ceiling windows and a sweeping city view.

Bright Eyes: My Experience with PRK Laser Eye Surgery, 3 Months Out

Gunnar_blue_light_blocking_glasses

Here I am in my Gunnar‘s – blue light blocking glasses that were crucial post laser eye surgery

Why did I get PRK laser eye surgery?

It all started with a disastrous morning in New York City this fall…

My alarm went off at 5am, and I felt totally zonked. I was in NYC for meetings and had been staying at the Dream Hotel – the one with a nightclub on the top floor. Let me tell you, that sound travelled.  I’d barely slept, but had ambitiously signed up for a 6am Barry’s Bootcamp class in Chelsea for that morning. I rolled out of bed, stumbled to the bathroom, and ripped open a fresh box of disposable contact lenses. After popping them into my eyes, the room became a swirl of indistinguishable objects. “They must have sent me a faulty lot!” I thought to myself, frustrated. I threw on an old, dysfunctional pair of glasses that only go with me on trips for emergencies that proceeded to slide right off my sweaty face and on to the floor during my fitness class.
