West Coast Wine + Cheese, Keeping it Local in San Francisco

West Coast Wine and Cheese is an adorable wine bar situated smack in the middle of the quaint and trendy Union St. in San Francisco. Their small venue allows for a curated, detailed oriented approach to food and wines sourced from exclusively from California, Oregon and Washington State. West Coast Wine and Cheese is a must-visit for wine-os in San Francisco, if you’re lucky enough to get a seat!

Donald J. Pliner Sandals + The #ArtOfFun

I’m always on the hunt for a San Francisco friendly (but still cute) shoe. The Donald J. Pliner Spring-Summer 2017 line up has plenty of eye-catching block heel and wedges styles both of which are excellent for walking comfortably from your favorite wine bar to the restaurant du- jour.

I teamed up with Donald J. Pliner to show off the Essie shoe (pictured below) as part of their #ArtofFun campaign. The low heel on this pair adds a touch of class and a healthy dose of wear-ability, while looking funky and chic. These babies pair well with jeans and tees, and can be dressed up or down – they’d look phenomenal with a denim mini and a floral maxi too. Next time you’re tempted to call a Lyft so you can wear 5 inch heels, try grabbing a few extra steps in a pair of classy low-heeled sandals instead.

Back with Betabrand: Dress Pant Yoga Pant + The Comfiest Hoodie

Betabrand is the ultimate Silicon Valley-esque fashion company, with crowd sourced designs that are often crowd funded into existence. Have you ever imagined the perfect wardrobe item, and spent the day hunting for it in the mall or online with no luck? That’s precisely the problem that the creative Betabrand designers have set out to solve. From innovative travel wear that can be worn multiple ways, to sneaky yoga pants that you can wear to work, Betabrand has done it.  The Dress Pant Yoga Pant is definitely one of my favorites; who doesn’t love a well-disguised stretchy waistband after a big client dinner or a weekend in Napa?

I’ve dressed up the Boot Cut Dress Pant Yoga Pant in an office appropriate fashion before, to show you how hard it is to tell that they’re actually stretch pants and super comfortable. In this post, I’m wearing the Dress Pant Yoga Pant Riding Pants, which have a more relaxed wide-leg profile, or can be snapped together at the bottom to prevent dragging when you change into flats. With a strategically placed gold zipper, this style flatters the figure and can easily transition to a dressier look.

I’m loving their new Cowl Neck Tunic that doubles as a hoodie too. The weather has been uncharacteristically cold given that we’re on the brink of Spring in San Francisco, and with this sweater I can ditch my scarf and hat. Just cinch up the ties, pop on the hood and you’re good to go! Not to mention that this “abstract herringbone” print is super cute. I’ll be wearing this one too and from workouts, and on casual days.

I’m also very excited that Betabrand is now crowdfunding shoes, particularly comfortable ballet flats designed specifically to be worn without socks. I walk everywhere around the city, and I had to trade my dressier footwear for Nike’s because I just haven’t been able to find a ballet flat that can support my mileage. I’ll bet you these will be a smash hit!

Health & Fitness Roundup: The Latest In Chest Wrinkles, Clean Food Delivery, Superfoods, Calorie Burning Saunas, All You Can Read Magazine Apps & More!

photo-nov-27-10-56-57-am

The holiday season is officially here, and so is that annual struggle to keep it tight. With an endless flow of stuffing, cocktails, and pumpkin everything, the struggle is definitely real. Thankfully, I’ve been sampling a few hot new items in the world of health and fitness this month and it’s helped to keep me out of trouble!

With the carefully portioned, month’s worth of clean food delivery from Fitzee Foods, and the super food snacks and baking ingredients from Navitas Naturals, there is no way I can justify a whole month of “dirty” eating. As icing on the cake, I had the chance to experience a “calorie burning” infrared sauna with SenSpa (too good to be true?), and the Zinio app is keeping me entertained through my boring elliptical sessions on low intensity training days.

Bonus: A wrinkle remover for the chest! Yes, that’s right, a between the boob de-creasifier (not a word). Read on!

lulu_lemon_fall_2016_prints

As a former Vancouverite and total Lululemon fan-girl, I was over the moon to receive the invite to the Artistry in Motion event at the Oh Happy Day studio in San Francisco, to celebrate the launch of Lululemon’s Fall ’16 collection, featuring unique dying techniques and jacquard fabrics.  Ahead of the event, I had the pleasure of interviewing Lululemon designer Florence Colson to chat about the new Fall’16 line up and shibori dying techniques. Um, dream job anyone?

Secrets From A Celebrity Trainer: My Interview With Ramona Braganza, Trainer to Halle Berry, Jessica Alba, and Ashlee Simpson!

ramona_braganza_celebrity_trainer_interview

Ramona Braganza is a beautiful person inside and out. She’s known for training the likes of Jessica Alba, Halle Berry, and Ashlee Simpson (to name a few), and when you meet her, it’s obvious why anyone (famous or not) would be blessed to have this woman as a fitness coach. She is kind, approachable, and her training method is simple yet effective. I’m convinced it is as much her warm demeanor as it is her fitness program that have attracted Hollywood clients and regular folks alike, through her DVD’s and book.

When Ramona agreed to sit down with me to chat about fitness, I was super excited. A fellow Canadian by birth, her impressive resume includes years of training as a gymnast, dancing for the Oakland Raiders, and competing as a fitness model. This is all in addition to years of training in Hollywood, where she racked up an impressive roster of famous clients. We met in Union Square a few weeks ago when I was New York, where Ramona is living while she trains actor Michael Weatherly (formerly of NCIS) for his role on the CBS TV show Bull, which began airing this month. Read on to learn more about Ramona’s fitness philosophy, her balanced approached to healthy living, and her 3-2-1 Training Method.

Relaxation When You Need It Most: Ayurvedic Massage @ Burke Williams Spa

web-SFO-Spa-Women

When the team at the Burke Williams Spa reached out and asked if I wanted to try their Ananda massage treatment focused on channeling energy to heal the body and mind, it could not have been better timing. Why?

Over the past few years, I’ve realized that the list of demands I could take care of in a day is just going to continue growing, all the time. I’ve learned that at a certain point, it’s up to me to put a boundaries on what I can do in a day, and to decide when I will block time for self care. In practice, this can be exceedingly difficult and I have to admit that I need help with it. As a result, I’ve become fascinated with restorative practices that focus on stress relief to balance the mind and body. Whether that be massage, yoga, or meditation I’m finally starting to truly appreciate the value of these well-touted practices.

The Most Comfortable Pencil Skirt: The Work-It Skirt by BetaBrand

The Most Comfortable Pencil Skirt: The Work-It Skirt by BetaBrand

First, BetaBrand brought us yoga pants disguised as works pants. Now, they’ve created an incredibly comfortable pencil skirt: the Work-It Pencil Skirt. I’ve been searching for a stretchy pencil skirt for a few years, since I lucked out and found one at Club Monaco back in 2010. That one needs to retire, and was time to find a replacement. My Google searches for comfortable pencil skirts brought up tight, slinky skirts that were only nightclub appropriate. I needed a super comfortable pencil skirt with thick material that has some give when I sit or drink too many sparkling waters.
