How to dress for summer in San Francisco – it’s something I had to find out the hard way after moving from balmy NYC last June, and has made a big impact on my summer wardrobe: summer = winter in San Francisco. Because San Franicsco is on a peninsula and surrounded by cold Pacific water on all sides, a “marine layer” of cold air forms above the city. This gets sucked down into the warmer Silicon Valley area south of the city, creating cold winds throughout San Francisco proper. Thankfully this “winter” isn’t really THAT cold, and nothing a trench can’t beat.
I’ve talked about my love for trenches that offer up a little something different, and this one is no exception. It’s flared bottom is especially lady-like, and the olive color is a nice departure from the typical tan. Underneath are two of my favorite basics: dark denim stretchy jeans and a bright silk button down that I can wear to work, with shorts, and on the weekends with casual outfits. Anywhere, really!
Another center piece of this outfit are my gunmetal grey Chanel flats. If there is any expensive shoe worth splurging on, it’s a pair of these – they are the most comfortable pair of flat’s I’ve ever owned, and you can’t beat the level of class they bring to any outfit you wear them with.
Are you trench person? How do you usually wear it?
