Sleep is so important to our health and happiness, so your bedroom should be your sanctuary. It should be somewhere you go to relax, rejuvenate, and get away from the stress of the day. Most of us switch up our wardrobes for fall, so why not makeover your bedroom too?
I’ve discovered some quick and east tricks to make bedroom fall-ready without completely redecorating. You can apply them to any season as well!
1. Update you bedding with splashes of fall colors and patterns
You don’t have to toss your summer sheets to makeover your bedroom for fall. Just add a few throw pillows (or better yet – change your pillow shams!) and a new duvet cover in fall colors. I’m a big fan of earthy brown tones for fall, and patterns inspired by falling leaves.
This trick works well if you have neutral walls, furniture, and white sheets. In this case, mixing in some rich browns, dark blues, burnt oranges or steely greys will your room a cozy fall feeling. If you’ve got a unique décor that features bright primary colors, choose neutral fall shades to compliment it.
Splurge for a high thread count and great quality with sheets if you can. Frette carries beautiful, neutral colored bedding and leafy prints including the City and San Babila leaf print above, as well as the textured fall inspired jacquard pillow sham and blanket below.
2. Burn fall inspired woody and spicy candles
Evoke the smell of a fall hike through the woods, or delicious warm dessert to get in the mood for the fall season. I love the Jo Malone Pomegrante Noir candle; it’s slightly sweet but has an overtone of dark and exotic spice, a perfect scent for cuddling up. The Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt is also a quintessential fall scent, as is the Dyptique Cannelle candle, which smells like fresh baking and rich cinnamon.
3. Add a bouquet for a pop of fall color
Fall isn’t just about brown – changing leaves are bright orange, yellow and red. I love to create bouquets featuring brighter fall hues. Throwing a few slim tree branches with orange and yellow leaves into a vase will work too. Just don’t cut them off your neighbors tree!
Gerbera daisies in red, organge and yellow make an easy arrangment, like the gorgeous arrangement below that comes from Etsy. I also love combining roses with orange lilies, for a luxurious super fragrant bouquet; or incorporating sunflowers. Martha Stewart has some other fun ideas for fall flower arrangements here.
4. Treat yourself to cozy new PJ’s
Depending on the weather in your city, you likely gave up on pajamas during the summer. Even if you don’t sleep in them, pick up a luxurious pair to hang around the house in.
Here in San Francisco, we’re lucky that it never gets too cold in the winter so I love to wear silk pajamas year round. Better yet? Match them to your updated bedroom decor!
Look for colors that compliment your sheets so you can feel extra fabulous while you lounge, and hang them strategically over the bed post or lay them strategically at the end of the bed when you head out for the day. Scroll through the pictures below to see my picks.
